UKAPU Interview at Fireball Squadron walk on game June 1st 2013

Whilst at Fireball Squadron last week, the guys from Airsoft TV were there shooting some footage and speaking to some of the regular players. I was lucky enough to grab a few moments with them and do a short interview. The full film can be seen here

So a big thanks to the guys from Airsoft TV.

New Players Guide

UK Airsoft Players Union has just published its ‘Beginners Guide to UK Airsoft’, which we hope will help encourage new players into our awesome hobby, answer some common questions and correct one or two misconceptions. Please do have a look, it’s worth a full read through if you are new to this world, but if you are simply looking for advice on a particular subject you will find that the contents is index linked.

http://www.ukapu.org.uk/wordpress/guide-to-airsoft/

Please share it with potential new players and if you can, put up links to the article on your airsoft pages. The guide won’t achieve anything if newbies don’t find it, and airsoft is a big, confusing world to the uninitiated! New participants are the lifeblood of every hobby.

UKAPU now in Gunmart

Thanks to the very kind and generous offer from Gunmart, we will, from the next issue be having a regular column in their Airsoft section of the magazine.   For those who’ve been in Airsoft as long as I have you might remember looking longingly imagines of TM FAMAS’s and colt XM177’s in there when Tokyo Marui were the only real player in the market! I’m delighted to see Airsoft returned to Gunmart and look forward to a long and fruitful partnership.

careful airsoft shopping

we have recently received a number of emails and comments from members about some shady practises from some retailers, some of which have had a bad press for a long time too! so I wanted to just post up a few tips to members and any new airsofters out there who might end up getting duped.

Cheaper isn’t always best – check around, use the numerous airsoft forums as well as our own and ask questions. If you think a deals sounds to good to be true and you don’t recognise the retailer then walk away! what you think is a good upfront saving might well cost you dearly in the long run.

buy from the well known reputable retailers – there’s a huge number of retailers both online and with physical premises these days so find one either nearby or handy for you thats known to others shouldnt prove too difficult.

Ask – speak to other players from local sites and see where they buy kit and guns. Their recommendations can save you hassles in the long run.

don’t forget your rights – if buying anything try to use a credit card so it gives you added protection over and above your consumer rights. If you do get stung but used a credit card they will do a charge back (you will need to check with your individual company for their terms regarding this).

Shop wise folks!

Welcome to our new Web Admin and Registrar

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome on board Adam Shaw as our new web admin and Andrew McArdle as our new registrar.

Both have been playing airsoft for a while now and as members of UKAPU they have stepped up to help at a management level to further push the aims and goals of the association whilst helping improve the internal organisation too.

So welcome on board guys and enjoy.

Response from Scotlands Justice Minister regarding airsoft

I apologise profusely for the delay in making this available online.

as some of you might know there was some adverse press at the beginning of the year in scotland and whilst it seems to have died down it did lead me to contact the SMP mentioned in the article, Bob Doris. He took up the case for airsoft with Kenny MacAskill especially in light of the proposed airgun legislation.

I have been given permission to publish the letter that Mr Doris received in response to his enquiries from Mr MacAskill so here it is:

Letter from Kenny MacAskill re airsoft weapons 010213
