** UKAPU reaches a decade serving the UK airsoft community **

Where were you 10 years ago, today?

I can’t remember (possibly because I was too busy being a rather young person), but there are a select few groundbreaking folk in the UK Airsoft community that do remember – because they were present at a meeting to establish a representative airsoft skirmishers organisation – of which the creation of UK Airsoft Players Union – UKAPU was the outcome.

A lot has happened over the last ten years.

We’ve fought battles with to keep our hobby/sport alive and legal – with the help of the wider community, been diligent investigators when inaccurate (or otherwise interesting) articles in the press surface, helped with great effect when our members have encountered serious legal issues when carrying out activities related to airsoft and been a reassuring help to those who have experienced the wonderful delight that is bureaucracy.

We’ve even helped a family to adopt a child.

We can’t just rest on our laurels and watch the world go by however, we’re constantly on the look out for anything that might threaten Airsoft as we play it today.

There was originally a plan to celebrate our 10th birthday in the venue that UKAPU was founded in, however from what I can tell, this building no longer exists.

Therefore, we’ve decided to formally celebrate our 10th birthday at the Annual General Meeting, which has been pencilled in to be held at the very end of February.

On behalf of the committee, past and present, we thank our members (and the wider community) for their support over the past decade.
